VTL

LTV extension

VTL, short for Vacuum Tube Logic, is an American manufacturer of tube amplifiers and preamplifiers with a factory in Chino, California, where all products are hand-assembled. The first designs date back to 1980, when sound engineer David Manley developed them in South Africa, starting with amplifiers for recording studios; production for home use began in Great Britain in 1983. In 1986, Manley and his son Luke brought the brand to the United States, and the factory has been in Chino since 1987. In 1993, David founded Manley Labs, while Luke Manley continued with VTL.

VTL specializes in high-power tube amplifiers, introducing the 1250W Wotan MB-1.250 monoblock in 1995. Proprietary technologies include Auto Bias and Fault Sensing, which adjusts tube bias and signals faults, precision-regulated power supplies, balanced differential circuits, in-house-designed output transformers, and tetrode/triode switching in the power amps.

The range is divided into three series. Performance: IT-85 integrated amplifier, ST-85, ST-150, and MB-125 power amplifiers, TL2.5i preamplifier, and TP-2.5i phono preamplifier. Signature: S-200, MB-185, and MB-450 Series III power amplifiers, TL5.5 and TL6.5 Series II preamplifiers, and TP-6.5 Series II phono preamplifier. Reference: TL7.5 Series III preamplifier, S-400 Series II stereo power amplifier, and Siegfried Series II and Lohengrin monoblocks.
