This KT88x4 tube amplifier offers a double modality operatriode/ultra-linear switchable with a single button, allowing you to adapt the sound to different musical needs. Cayin is the brand of Zhuhai Spark Electronic Equipment, a company founded in 1993 in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China. The CS series and the construction choices

The CS series brings together the brand's most iconic living room amplifiers. There are three new tube integrated amplifiers. The Cayin CS-55A KT-88 is the most versatile: KT88 power amplifiers in push-pull, modalitriode and ultralinear design, phono stage, headphone output and integrated USB DAC. The Cayin CS-100A KT-88 maintains the same setup but with eight KT88 output tubes and therefore significantly more power. The Cayin CS-845A is the single-ended version with 845 tubes driven by 300B, featuring bias adjustment with a meter on the top panel and a direct input for use as a power amp.

The Cayin CS-55 CD DAC is available as a new source, a CD player with a conversion section that can also be used for other digital sources, designed to work alongside the amplifiers of the same series.

How to choose

With tubes, the choice starts with the speakers. The CS-55A is at home with medium-to-high sensitivity speakers in normal-sized rooms, and thanks to its phono, DAC, and headphone output, it can be the centerpiece of a compact system. If the speakers are less sensitive or the room is large, the CS-100A offers the necessary power reserves. The CS-845A is a good choice for those who specifically seek single-ended sound and have high-efficiency speakers.

The ability to switch between ultralinear and triode modes on the KT88 models helps find the right balance: more energy and control in the former, more smoothness in the latter. The CS-55 CD DAC completes the system with a coordinated aesthetic.
