Indiana Line Basso 880
Indiana Line Basso 880
Indiana Line Basso 880

Description

The Basso 880 is the top model of the Basso series and the most powerful active subwoofer in the Indiana Line catalog. Its layout is deliberately traditional: sealed enclosure (or air suspension), no reflex port, no control app. It's a deliberate design choice, not a simplification. The lack of a reflex port favors control of the impulse response and makes the bass response more predictable when the subwoofer is placed near a wall or in a corner.

The 275mm outer diameter transducer is mounted down-firing, that is, facing the floor. The underlying surface acts as a reinforcing plane and helps distribute the low range more evenly throughout the room. The conical feet, sized to allow the passage of the emissionand, they end in rubber to decouple the furniture from the floor.

The membrane is made of mica-filled polypropylene , with an external rubber suspension and a magnetic assembly consisting of two coupled ferrite elements. The MDF cabinet has 16 mm side walls and a 25 mm bottom in the woofer housing area, with internal reinforcement and polyester coating: a deaf structure, designed to not add any of its own coloration.

L'Class D amplifier It delivers 250 W nominal (400 W peak) and is powered by a generous toroidal transformer for its category. The control section is complete and immediate: adjustment of the cut-off frequency between 40 and 180 Hz, level adjustment, reverse selector fase, mode selectordaliignition switch and main switch.

When it comes to connections, the Basso 880 is particularly versatile. How do you connect an active subwoofer to a stereo amplifier without a preamp output? Use the high-level inputs, which receive the same signal sent to the main speakers. With a preamplifier or integrated amplifier with a preamp output, use the stereo L/R line input; in a home theater system , connect the mono LFE input to the dedicated output on the receiver, an input that bypasses the internal electronic crossover, leaving the processor to manage the cutoff.

What's the best subwoofer to complement bookshelf speakers in a stereo? The Basso 880 is a solid choice for those who listen to music as well as movies. Its output is fast and detailed, with consistent impact and good readability on drum and double bass transients: a typical behavior of sealed subs, where volume is subordinate to control. In a home theater setup , it easily supports the LFE channel of complex soundtracks. In a stereo system with bookshelf speakers or small towers, it allows the midwoofers to be relieved of the lowest frequencies, reducing the risk of overload and gaining dynamics across the entire range.

The matte black vinyl finish is discreet and low-reflective. Measuring 30 x 40 x 32 cm and weighing 13,4 kg, the Basso 880 fits easily into even standard-sized living rooms.

This mission He led the development of proprietary technologies and innovative acoustic solutions that cemented Indiana Line's reputation for quality audio electronics.

Indiana Line's signature technologies include the "Diva System" woofer loading system, a patented configuration that optimizes the floorstanding speaker's frequency response through the use of calibrated rear reflex ports and multiple resonance chambers. The Italian company has also developed proprietary transducers with advanced composite membranes, including drivers with anodized aluminum cones and treated natural silk dome tweeters, ensuring crystal-clear and detailed sound reproduction. The Indiana Line passive crossover system uses selected high-quality components, including polypropylene capacitors and air-wound inductors, to ensure precise frequency separation and a fase coherent across the entire sound spectrum.

The Indiana Line product range focuses exclusively on loudspeakers, ranging from compact bookshelf models to generously sized three-way floorstanding systems. Indiana Line bookshelf speakers include two-way models with 13-16 cm woofers, ideal for small to medium-sized stereo systems, while floorstanding speakers include two-, three-, and four-way configurations with woofers up to 25 cm in diameter, designed to reproduce the lowest frequencies with authority and control. Indiana Line products are technically classified according to rigorous international standards, with power, impedance, and frequency response specifications certified through measurements in an anechoic chamber.

The Diva series represents the flagship of Indiana Line's production, featuring three-way floorstanding speakers that integrate a proprietary loading system for exceptional low-end extension. Diva line models feature 20-25 cm woofers with neodymium magnets and composite diaphragms, dedicated 13 cm midrange drivers for natural vocal reproduction, and 28 mm soft dome tweeters for detailed, never-fatiguing highs. How much to spend on a quality first Hi-Fi system

How much does it really take to get started with Hi-Fi? This is the question every enthusiast asks before investing in their first listening system. The figures circulating online range from €500 to €5000, creating more confusion than clarity. The truth…

The 40-30-30 Rule (and When to Break It)

In the Hi-Fi world, a budget ratio has been around for decades: 40% on speakers, 30% on amplification, and 30% on the source. It's a sensible starting point for those unsure where to begin, but it should be taken as a flexible guideline, not a dogma.
