Description

The Klipsch RP-600M II are two-way bookshelf hi-fi speakers that represent the second generation of the Reference Premiere series, among the best-selling models in the American catalog. The design maintains the brand's typical high-efficiency philosophy, but redesigns almost all the components compared to the previous version.

The tweeter is an LTS (Linear Travel Suspension) with a 1-inch titanium diaphragm, housed in a ventilated chamber that reduces standing waves and unwanted harmonics. It is loaded by a 90° x 90° hybrid Tractrix horn in silicone composite, wider than the first series: directivity is more controlled and the soundstage is wider, with fewer lateral reflections off the walls. This is why these speakers perform well even in untreated rooms.

The 6,5-inch Cerametallic woofer features a new design, featuring aluminum Faraday rings and a revised motor assembly. The larger voice coil results in superior power handling and faster transient response, resulting in tight, articulated bass rather than bloated bass. The bass is reflex- loaded via a rear-mounted Tractrix port , with internal flares that limit turbulence and wind noise at high volumes.

With a sensitivity of 94,5 dB (2,83 V / 1 m) and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, the RP-600M II is an easy-to-drive speaker. What is the best bookshelf speaker for a low-power tube amplifier? This is one of the most concrete answers: a few watts are enough to reach sound pressure levels withvincenti, and the pairing with single-ended tube amplifiers or with 30-50W solid state ICs it works equally well. The double aluminum terminal allows for connections in bi-wiring e bi-amping, useful for those who want to develop the system over time.

The internally braced MDF cabinet, scratch-resistant satin finish on the baffle, and removable magnetic grille complete a product designed for both high-resolution stereo listening and front-channel use in a home theater system from the same series. Given the 40 cm height and 8,2 kg weight per speaker, use on a pair of rigid stands —with the tweeter at ear height—is strongly recommended over shelf placement. The rear port also requires at least 20-30 cm of clearance from the wall for balanced bass.

This dedication to sonic purity has made Klipsch one of the most respected brands in the world of high fidelity, with a solid reputation among the most discerning audiophiles. The company combines traditional American craftsmanship with ongoing technological innovation, maintaining production of some flagship models in the United States while constantly investing in research and development to perfect its audio solutions.
Klipsch's signature technologies include the renowned Tractrix Horn Technology, a patented horn system that ensures uniform dispersion and reduced distortion. Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) optimizes transducer movement for more precise response, while Cerametallic technology represents the evolution of high-performance composite woofer cones. Injection Molded Graphite (IMG) characterizes the Reference Series tweeters, offering superior detail and dynamics. These proprietary innovations distinguish Klipsch products in the global high-fidelity landscape.
The Klipsch product line ranges from the Heritage Series floorstanding speakers, which retain their original vintage design, to the modern Reference Premiere bookshelf speakers. Klipsch's transistor integrated amplifiers are characterized by high power and precise control, ideal for effectively driving the company's loudspeakers. The tube integrated amplifier category offers solutions for lovers of warmer, more immersive analog sound.
The Heritage Series represents absolute excellence with iconic models such as the Klipsch Cornwall IV and Heresy IV, floorstanding speakers that use updated original horn technology. The Reference Premiere line includes floorstanding and bookshelf speakers with Cerametallic drivers and LTS tweeters, perfect for high-end stereo systems. The RP Series offers more affordable solutions while maintaining high technical performance. For source materials, Klipsch offers high-quality CD SACD DVD players and partnerships with specialized turntable manufacturers to complete the ideal stereo system.

Floorstanding or bookshelf speakers: a guide to choosing

Imposing tower or compact bookshelf? It's the question every enthusiast asks at least once, and the answer is never obvious. The choice between floorstanding and bookshelf speakers depends on more than just budget or space...

Anatomy of a Tower: What Makes a Speaker Unique

A floorstanding speaker is built to stand alone, without the need for external supports. Its height—often between 80 and 120 centimeters—allows it to house multiple separate drivers: a tweeter for highs, a midrange driver for midrange, and one or more woofers for bass. This multi-way configuration offers more granular control over different portions of the sound spectrum.

I can say that in combination with a mission The 778x sound great and less sharp than people say. Great speakers for the price, and they also have good bass for a standmounter.
