Description

The NAD M15 HD is a high-end AV surround preamplifier designed to be the brains of a reference home theater system, capable of handling high-definition audio and video with astonishing naturalness. Born from the Masters Series, it combines a refined audio section with a powerful HDMI video processing platform up to 1080p, to transform movies, music and gaming into a truly immersive experience.

At the heart of the NAD M15 HD is ultra-high-speed DSP with full HD format decoding such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Linear PCM 192 kHz, as well as Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD High Resolution and DTS 96/24. The post-processing section integrates modaliadvanced features such as DTS Neo:6, Dolby ProLogic IIx, EARS and Enhanced Stereo, to adapt the sound field to any content, from multi-channel movies to simple stereo tracks.

On the video front, the preamplifier uses the Sigma VXP processor with upscaling up to 1080p, motion-adaptive de-interlacing, noise reduction, and aspect ratio management to enhance both HD sources and legacy SD signals. All composite and S-Video signals can be converted to component or HDMI, allowing the entire video system to be brought to the TV or projector with a single cable, with OSD available on all outputs.

The audio section follows the purist NAD philosophy: DAC dual differential 24 bit/192 kHz, built with premium 2-channel converters instead of 8-channel chips, buffer stages with operaUltra-fast FET amplifiers (8 MHz bandwidth, 0,00008% THD) and a direct analog path (“bypass”) for unprocessed stereo and 7.1 sources. The result is an open, dynamic sound with a signal-to-noise ratio exceeding 90 dB and a linear frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

For integration into complex systems, the M15 HD offers a wealth of connectivity: 4 HD AV digital inputs with HDMI repeater, 3 HD Component inputs, analog AV inputs with composite and S-Video, 4 coaxial digital inputs, 4 optical digital inputs, 3 analog stereo inputs and a 7.1 Direct input. It also features outputs for 3 independent audio zones (plus a dedicated AV zone), 12V trigger, RS-232 port, IR in/out and MP3 port for the NAD iPod dock.

Day-to-day operation is surprisingly simple thanks to the two-layer menu interface, displayed on both the front panel and the TV screen, and the fully programmable HTRM remote control with backlit LCD display, capable of learning commands from other components. You can create macros, rename inputs, align source levels, and recall specific AV presets for movies, music, or gaming.

The construction is worthy of the Masters series: a solid chassis made of extruded aluminum, zinc castings, and heavy-gauge steel, separate power supplies for the audio and digital sections with a dedicated C-Core transformer for analog, and switching power supplies for the video/DSP section. The modular design of the audio/video input cards and the ability to update the firmware via serial port protect your investment over time, keeping the M15 HD up to date with new formats.

Integrated, Pre-Amplifier, or Receiver: A Guide to Choosing

When building a Hi-Fi system, choosing the right amplifier is one of the most important—and often confusing—steps. Integrated amplifier, preamplifier and power amplifier pair, receiver: three different philosophies, three ways of understanding sound and experience…

What is an integrated amplifier and why is it the point

The integrated amplifier is the most common solution in home Hi-Fi, and for good reason. It combines two essential functions in a single chassis: the preamplifier, which manages the sources, adjusts the volume, and shapes the audio signal, and the power amplifier, which amplifies the signal to drive the speakers. It's the natural choice for those who want a complete, efficient, and ready-to-use system without complications.
