Description

Fortunately, the technical specifications are stated in the user manual. In any case, it is a class AB transistor amplifier rated for 200W/ch into 8 ohms and 400W/ch into 4 ohms. It has unbalanced and balanced inputs, selectable using a dedicated switch on the back of the device.
The device dates back to around 2004 - 2005 and was imported into Europe from New Zealand (Perreaux headquarters) with a retail price of €4.000.
The exuberant power, characteristic of Perreaux amplifications, allows the vast majority of speakers on the market to be driven with authority and control, the timbre is generally neutral and never winks at amber and rounded tones.
It's a solid-state amp and, like Krell amplifications, it certainly doesn't ape old-style tube sounds while never bordering on glassiness or angularity.
I think it could be an excellent amplifier for the Tannoy Prestige series, Vienna Acoustic but I would see it very well with the new JBL L series!
