WiiM, Linkplay streaming under its own name
WiiM is the brand under which Linkplay Technology sells its products directly. Linkplay was founded in 2014 by a group of engineers with experience at companies such as Google, Broadcom, and Harman, and for years worked behind the scenes: Wi-Fi modules, software, and streaming apps for many well-known audio brands. After supplying technology to others, the company launched its first WiiM-branded product, the WiiM Mini streamer, in late 2021.
The stated goal is to make high-resolution streaming and multiroom accessible, even by adding it to existing systems. Since then, the range has grown to include more advanced streamers, amplifiers, wireless speakers, and a subwoofer.
The WiiM ecosystem
The heart of the system is the WiiM Home app, available for smartphones, computers, and TVs, which manages streaming services, multi-room groups, and sound adjustments. Key features include bit-perfect high-resolution playback, AirPlay 2, a 10-band parametric equalizer, and RoomFit acoustic calibration, which uses the smartphone's microphone to adapt the response to the room. All products can play in sync across multiple rooms.
The WiiMs available from us
Among the streamers, to be connected to an amplifier or active speakers, you will find the WiiM Mini, the simplest way to make an existing system "smart"; the WiiM Pro, designed for multi-room streaming; the WiiM Pro Plus, with AKM DAC for superior quality analog output; and the WiiM Ultra, with a 3,5-inch touchscreen and inputs for TVs and turntables.
For those who want to connect passive speakers directly, there are the WiiM Amp transistor integrated amplifiers, compact and with TV connection, and the WiiM Amp Ultra, the top model with 100 W, screen, and integrated room correction. The WiiM Vibelink, on the other hand, is a basic amplifier without streaming, designed to work in conjunction with a WiiM streamer.
Completing the range are the WiiM Sound active wireless speakers, with a touch screen and the option to use them in a 5.1 system, and the more compact WiiM Sound Lite, as well as the WiiM Sub Pro subwoofer, which integrates into both a stereo system and a WiiM home theater with automatic calibration.
How to choose
Start with what you already have. If you have a quality amplifier, all you need is a streamer: the Mini to get started, the Pro Plus if you also want to use its converter, the Ultra if you need a screen and inputs for a TV and turntable. If you don't have an amplifier, or want a compact system, a WiiM Amp or an Amp Ultra with a pair of passive speakers form a complete system in a single device; the Amp Ultra is preferable with more sophisticated speakers and larger rooms.
The Vibelink makes sense for those who prefer to keep streamers and amplification separate. The Sub Pro is added when bookshelf speakers aren't enough to cover the entire spectrum.empire the low range, while Sound and Sound Lite are the choice for rooms where you don't want a traditional system.
