About the brand

Roksan was founded in London in 1985 by Touraj Moghaddam and Tufan Hashemi, two young graduates of Persian origin, the former from Imperial College, the latter from Queen Mary College. Their first product was the belt-driven Xerxes turntable, designed by Moghaddam and presented at a 1985 hi-fi show alongside the prototype Darius loudspeaker, launched the following year. The Artemiz tonearm was added in 1987.
In the following years, the catalog expanded: the budget Radius turntable in 1989, the flagship TMS turntable in 1991, and, from 1998, the Caspian electronics, one of the company's longest-running series, which reached its fourth generation in 2024. In 2000, the Kandy line was launched, which led to the K series integrated amplifiers, and in 2016, the Black series of amplifiers and CD players. Meanwhile, the Xerxes had a successor, the Xerxes.20plus, which celebrated the model's twentieth anniversary in 2005.
Ownership has also changed. In 1996, Roksan was acquired by Verity plc, but about two years later the founders bought it back. Moghaddam left the company in 2011 and then dedicated himself to Vertere Acoustics. In November 2016, Roksan became part of Monitor Audio, which today operates it under its own brand from Rayleigh, Essex, and continues to produce new equipment. Only used models are available on our website.
