Furutech is a Japanese company founded in April 1988, headquartered in Tokyo's Shinagawa district. It began by offering audio cables with OCC monocrystalline copper conductors, and today it designs and manufactures audio and video cables, connectors, sockets, power distribution products, and system accessories. A significant portion of its work involves connectors, which Furutech also supplies to other high-end manufacturers.
Two treatments recur throughout the catalog. The Alpha Process, applied to all metal parts, combines cryogenic cooling with liquid nitrogen or helium and a ring demagnetization patented by Sekiguchi, of which Furutech is a licensee; according to the company, it makes the conductors more stable and free of internal stresses. NCF, Nano Crystal² Formula, is a material composed of crystals, ceramic nanoparticles, and carbon powder that Furutech adds to insulators and connector bodies to dampen vibrations and static charges. These are manufacturer specifications; the best way to evaluate them is to listen to them in your own system.
For power, there are Absolute Power-15Plus network cables with α-OCC conductors, G-314Ag-15Plus, Flow-28 NCF, The Astoria Plus-E and The Odeon-E, and the e-TP60E, e-TP60E NCF, e-TP609E NCF and e-TP80ES NCF power strips. The e-TP609E NCF offers six Schuko sockets on three GTX-D NCF double sockets, without filters and with internal wiring in Alpha-22 conductor. The NCF Clear Line plugs into a free socket on the same line in the system; the RCA, XLR, USB and LAN versions act as plugs for unused device inputs.
For signal, the choice ranges from analog Lineflux NCF, Evolution Audio II and Audio Reference III cables, in RCA or XLR versions, to the digital Digiflux NCF (coaxial and AES/EBU) and Digi Reference III, up to the GT2 NCF USB-B and the LAN-8 NCF Plus network cable. For speakers there are the Evolution Speaker II and Speaker Reference III, also in Bi-Wire versions, and the Jumper and Jumperflux jumpers. For vinyl, the AG-12 and Silver Arrows II phono cables, the DeStat III battery-powered static eliminator with fan and ion generator, and the DeMag Alpha demagnetizer for records. The NCF Booster series includes supports and clamps that keep cables and plugs raised and in place.
The phono cable should be chosen according to the tonearm: if the turntable has a five-pin DIN socket, an AG-12 or a Silver Arrows II DIN-RCA is needed, and the AG-12L with an L-shaped plug is useful when there's limited space under the plinth; if the tonearm has RCA sockets, the RCA-RCA versions are used. For digital audio, the converter's sockets are decisive: coaxial, AES/EBU, or USB.
With speakers equipped with double binding posts, the Speaker Reference III Bi-Wire allows you to connect the bass and treble separately; those using a single cable can replace the supplied plates with Jumper or Jumperflux jumpers. In a system with many devices, it's best to start with a power strip, so that all components have the same power point, and then move on to the individual power cables.
