Description

The Marantz CD 70 is the new entry-level hi-fi CD player from the Japanese company, direct heir to the CD6007 and part of the 70 Series together with the MODEL 70 integrated amplifier. Compared to its predecessor, the design has been revised in the areas that really matter: new ESS Sabre D/A converter , low jitter clock generated by a low phase noise oscillator and optimised power supply to lower background noise.

The analog section remains faithful to the Marantz philosophy and uses the modules HDAM e HDAM-SA2 completely discrete, which replace the operaintegrated with a selected component topology. The result is the brand's typical sonic signature: full-bodied midrange, fast transients and an uncluttered spatial reconstruction even on medium-level Redbook recordings. The signal clarity is contributed by the separate rectifier circuit for analog and digital stages, the symmetrical layout and the metal reinforcement plate of the chassis.

Those wondering how to listen to high-resolution files without connecting a computer will find the answer in the front USB-A input : all you need is a pen drive or hard disk to play FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC and DSD files , managed by the same DAC that processes the disc. Selectable digital filters allow you to adapt the playback character to the musical genre and the rest of the system.

The 6,3mm headphone output is no minor feature: it features a fully discrete amplifier with HDAM-SA2 circuitry, a dedicated volume control on the front and adjustable gain, to properly drive both low-impedance headphones and more demanding models. On the back are the stereo analog output on gold-plated RCA connectors , a coaxial and an optical digital output, useful for using the CD 70 as a transport to an external DAC, as well as the D-Bus connection for integrated control with compatible Marantz amplifiers.

The natural pairing is with the MODEL 70, but the CD 70 fits seamlessly into any mid-range stereo system: dimming VFD display, system remote control, detachable power cord and black or Silver-Gold finishes consistent with the current Marantz aesthetic language.

About the brand

Marantz is a historic brand specializing in CD players, integrated amplifiers, and digital converters that combine ease of use with balanced sound quality. Its products are aimed at those seeking a compact and reliable stereo system without sacrificing excellent listening quality: from entry-level models like the CD60 and PM6007 to the more sophisticated Model 40N and SACD 30N, every Marantz solution is designed for those who want pure music without complications.

To choose the right model, first consider the primary source (CD, streaming, vinyl): Marantz SACD players offer superior resolution, while integrated amplifiers vary in power and connectivity. Then consider the available space and the pairing with your speakers: Audiocostruzioni It carries the entire Marantz range along with over 70 other brands, and you can listen to the different combinations in its Carpi listening room. Available new, guaranteed used, and ex-demo models, with a free consultation to find the solution that best suits your budget and needs.

What are DACs and Streamers and when are they really useful in Hi-Fi?

If you listen to music from Spotify, Tidal, or Qobuz through your computer or smartphone connected to your system, you've probably wondered if you're truly exploiting the potential of your speakers. DACs and streamers are the two digital components that…

What is a DAC and why does it exist?

DAC stands for Digital-to-Analog Converter. Its job is to transform the bits of a music file (the zeros and ones of the digital world) into an analog electrical signal that the amplifier can amplify and the speakers can reproduce.
