Jumpers, also called jumpers, are the short cables that connect the two pairs of speaker terminals set up for bi-wiring or bi-amping. When the speaker is connected to the amplifier with a single cable per channel, the jumpers carry the signal from the bass section to the midrange and treble sections, or vice versa.
Why replace the standard plates?
Many speakers come factory-fitted with metal plates or thin wires: they're convenient, but they're the lowest-quality part of the connection compared to a speaker cable. A jumper wire made with the same conductors and the same care as a good speaker cable ensures a consistent signal path from the amplifier to the speakers; for this reason, cable manufacturers offer jumpers that match their series.
Banana or fork
The choice of termination depends on the speaker's binding posts. Banana plugs are quick to insert and remove and work well with drilled binding posts; spades tighten under the binding post nut and provide a wide, stable contact, suitable for those who rarely move their system. Before choosing, it's also a good idea to check the distance between the pairs of binding posts, which varies from speaker to speaker.
Da Audiocostruzioni you find Furutech jumpers and The Gryphon, together with power cables, online and in our Carpi (MO) showroom; for advice on matching your speakers, email us.
