Description

The Yamaha AX-700 is a stereo integrated amplifier from the Natural Sound series , produced between 1986 and 1988 and today sought-after on the used vintage market. It delivers 2×110 watts into 8 ohms with a total harmonic distortion of 0,005% , a value that at the time placed this model in the medium-high range of Japanese production.

The heart of the project is the ALA (Absolute Linear Amplification) circuit , developed by Yamaha to reduce crossover and switching distortion in the final stage, thus improving linearity at low power levels, the ones most commonly used in real-world home listening. The power supply is sized to confidently drive demanding loads: dynamic power rises up to 2x400 W into 1 ohm , a sign of a generous transformer and power section.

On the analog front, the AX-700 features a switchable MM/MC phono stage , allowing you to connect both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges without the need for an external preamp. A common question among vinyl newcomers is: how do you connect a turntable with an MC cartridge to a vintage integrated amplifier? With the AX-700, simply set the phono selector to the MC position, without adding a dedicated stage.

The equipment is completed by the continuously variable loudness control (typical and valued brand of Yamaha factory), the tone controls deactivatable, the function CD Direct for signal path shorter, and a management flexible of the recordings with double entry tape and outputs multiple rec-outs. The double Couple of speaker terminals (A+B) allows to manage two systems or a configuration biwiring.
