The crossover filter is distributed across two separate boards housed on the bottom of the cabinet. The tweeter's high-pass filter is a complex network with three RLC-series resonant cells that perform an active equalization function: two of these are tuned to 15.600 Hz and approximately 28.000 Hz, respectively, to extend and smooth the driver's response in the very high range, even beyond the limit of audibility. The low-pass filter for the woofers is made with laminated inductors and bipolarized electrolytic capacitors selected with a 5% tolerance, bypassed by a 10 nF polypropylene. For the tweeter, however, air-insulated inductors and 100 V polypropylene capacitors, which are higher-quality components, are used.

The cabinet is constructed from 19 mm MDF with two interlocking and glued ring braces, an acrylic lining fixed to the walls, and a 75 mm diameter, shortened port. Bi - wiring is supported by a rear terminal block with four jumpered terminals. The design—slender, with a well-developed vertical horn and a protective ring exclusively on the woofers—recalls the aesthetic of JBL's higher-end reference models.

When listening, after adequately breaking in the membranes, the Studio 580 offers a neutral and well-balanced midrange , a stable and believably sized soundstage, and a dry, dynamic, and controlled low range even at high pressure levels. The high range is precise and fast, with the soundstage variation with level changes—typical of horn tweeters—which remains contained compared to other similar solutions.
