About the brand

Leak It is the brand founded in London in 1934 by Harold Joseph Leak like HJ Leak & Co. Ltd. In the early years, the company built amplifiers to order; the Type 15 arrived in 1945, and the valve-powered TL/12 in 1948, adopted as the BBC standard in 1951. The Point One series amplifiers took their name from their harmonic distortion, which was reduced to 0,1%, a benchmark for the time.
In 1961 Leak introduced the Sandwich speaker, with a cone made of an expanded polystyrene core enclosed between two sheets of aluminum, to achieve a rigid and lightweight piston movement. In 1963, the Stereo 30 arrived, the brand's first transistor amplifier, with a germanium power stage. Since 2020 Leak has returned to the market within the International Audio Group, the same group as Mission, Wharfedale, Quad and Audiolab, with devices that reflect the style of the Stereo 30: walnut veneered cabinet on an aluminium frame.
The Sandwich cone has returned to current speakers with modern materials: in the Sandwich 100, the core is made of Rohacell, a closed-cell foam also used in the aircraft industry, sandwiched between two aluminum skins. The electronics use ESS Sabre converters, MM phono stages, and aptX Bluetooth, and are designed to work together as a single system.
We have the entire range for sale. The 2020 Stereo 130 integrated amplifier delivers 45 W per channel and has a DAC, a MM phono stage with a JFET circuit, a headphone output, and Bluetooth. The Stereo 230 increases its output to 75 W per channel with a double-parallel power amplifier, designed to more easily drive low-impedance speakers, and adds an HDMI ARC input for your TV, optical, and USB. The CDT transport does not have an internal converter: it connects to the amplifier with the coaxial or optical output and also plays music files from the front USB port. The TruStream, the brand's first streamer, uses the Silent Angel platform, is Roon Ready, supports Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, and AirPlay 2, and has RCA, balanced XLR, and headphone outputs. The speakers are the Sandwich 100, the smallest, with a 150 mm woofer; the Sandwich 150, a two-way speaker with a 170 mm woofer; the Sandwich 250, a three-way speaker with a 280 mm woofer and a 108 mm midrange speaker, also with a sandwich cone, for which dedicated stands are available.
The Stereo 130 with the CDT is the simplest pairing for those who listen to CDs, vinyl, and music from their phone in a medium-sized room, along with the Sandwich 100 or Sandwich 150. The Stereo 230 is preferable when the system also needs to serve a TV or when choosing the Sandwich 250, which, with its 88,5 dB sensitivity and large woofer, deserves more power and a larger room. Those who already have an amplifier with digital inputs or a good DAC can add the TruStream for streaming, or the CDT for records.
