Anthem is a Canadian brand of hi-fi and home theater electronics. Its roots lie in Sonic Frontiers, a Canadian electronics manufacturer founded in the 1990s, which was acquired in 1998 by Paradigm, the loudspeaker company founded in 1982; Paradigm later chose to continue using the Anthem name. Research and development takes place in Canada, with the engineering center in Ottawa, and since 2019, Anthem, Paradigm, and MartinLogan have been owned by Scott and John Bagby.
The company's hallmark is ARC (Anthem Room Correction), introduced in 2006 with the Statement D2 processor and now available in its ARC Genesis version: a calibrated microphone measures the response of the speakers in the room, and the system digitally corrects any rumble and bass buildup. An integrated amplifier is the simplest choice when a single component needs to do everything: the power is sufficient for the vast majority of speakers and home environments. A preamp and power amp pair makes sense with low-impedance or difficult-to-drive speakers, in large rooms, or when you want to upgrade the system one component at a time. In both cases, it's best to use ARC, especially in rooms with heavy bass or speakers close to walls.
