About the brand
Audiolab is a British hi-fi electronics brand founded in 1983 by Philip Swift and Derek Scotland, fellow students at Imperial College London. It designs integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers and power amplifiers, DACs, CD players and transports, and network streamers.
The first product was the 8000A integrated amplifier, designed to offer true high fidelity at an affordable price and ease of use. From there, the 8000 family was born: the 8000C and 8000Q preamplifiers, the 8000P power amplifier, the 8000M monoblocks, and the 8000CD player. The family remained in production for many years and is still highly sought-after on the used market. In the late 90s, the brand was acquired by TAG McLaren Audio; since the early 2000s, it has been part of the International Audio Group, the same group as Quad and Wharfedale. The relaunch came with the 8200 series and the M-DAC converter.
The amplifiers Audiolab They use class AB transistor output stages, while the digital sections are built around ESS Sabre converters.
The current range is divided into series:
6000: 6000A integrated (50 W per channel into 8 ohms, with DAC and MM phono input), 6000CDT CD transport and 6000N Play streamer;
7000: 7000A integrated (70 W per channel into 8 ohms), 7000N Play streamer and 7000CDT mechanics;
8300: integrated 8300A (75 W per channel into 8 ohms);
9000, the reference series: 9000A integrated amplifier, 9000Q preamplifier with DAC, 9000P power amplifier (100 W per channel into 8 ohms, can be used in bridge mode as a monoblock), 9000N streamer and 9000CDT transport.
Over the years the products Audiolab have received many awards from the British specialist press, starting with the What Hi-Fi? Awards. Audiocostruzioni you find the range Audiolab new and often also used examples of the historic 8000 and 8200 series.
