About the brand

Bose was founded in 1964 in Massachusetts by Amar Bose, an engineer with MIT ties, with the support of investors, including his thesis advisor, Y.W. Lee. The first product sold to the public, in 1966, was the 2201, a 22-driver corner speaker. It was unsuccessful and went out of production after a few years.
The turning point came in 1968 with the 901, a speaker that aimed most of its drivers toward the wall behind it to take advantage of reflected sound. Initial reviews were unfavorable, and sales started slowly, but the 901 became the company's flagship product for nearly thirty years. In 1975, the 301 arrived, with a front-facing woofer and a tweeter facing the side wall, and was one of the brand's best-selling speakers. A peculiarity that dates back to 1968: Bose avoids publishing technical data for its products.
Over time, the catalog expanded to include car audio systems, with the first system supplied to an automaker in 1983, compact home systems, professional audio, and noise-canceling headphones, now among the brand's best-known products. The headquarters are in Framingham, Massachusetts. In 2011, Amar Bose donated a majority of its non-voting shares to MIT, and today the institute is the largest shareholder. The brand is active and produces new equipment; our site only features used and vintage models.
Da Audiocostruzioni We offer used and vintage Bose equipment: the ones available are on this page and can be seen and heard in our Carpi showroom or ordered online with shipping. If you have any questions, please email us.
