The Dared VP-16 is a Chinese-built tube integrated amplifier that marked the entry of many enthusiasts into the world of tubes. The configuration is push-pull in class AB , with two 6V6 power tubes per channel driven by a pair of 6SL7 input tubes: a classic, simple and proven design, which favors the linearity of the chain over the pursuit of power at all costs.

The maximum declared power is 18 W per channel. In practice, the manufacturer specifies around 12 W with distortion less than 1%, while the 18 W value should be read as the upper limit with higher distortion. This is a modest power reserve on paper but sufficient in small rooms, provided it is paired with high-sensitivity speakers : the recommended threshold is 89–90 dB, beyond which the VP-16 maintains composure and control even at realistic volumes. With more challenging speakers, near-field listening remains a viable solution.
