About the brand

RCF is an Italian company founded in 1949 in Reggio Emilia, where it is still based today. The original company name was Radio Cine Forniture, and there were three founders. The first products were microphones and loudspeakers intended for other manufacturers, who mounted them in their own furniture; in the 1960s the catalogue focused on 12, 15 and 18 inch transducers, and RCF It has become one of the leading European suppliers of loudspeakers for international brands.
Around 1970, the company entered the home hi-fi market with its own line of speakers and amplifiers. The best-known model from that period is the Class 40, which remained in the catalogue for several decades; many of the speakers belong to the same BR family RCF which are now available in second-hand stores. In the 1980s, car speakers with carbon fiber cones arrived.
Since 1990 RCF has focused on professional audio with its own brand. In 1996 it presented theART 300-A, one of the first active portable speakers made of composite material, and since then the ART series has reached its ninth generation; in 2012 theHDL 20-A, a line array that became the best-selling product in its history. The ownership has also had its changes: since 1998 RCF It was part of the American group Mackie, then LOUD, until the previous Italian shareholders took it over at the end of 2003. In 2018 the group RCF in turn acquired the American EAW; in 2019 it had more than 600 employees and in Reggio Emilia it gave its name to the RCF Arena, the concert venue built on the former Campovolo.
