Rega RB330
Rega RB330

Description

The RB330 is the Planar 3 tonearm, designed using 3D CAD/CAM based on over 35 years of Rega experience. Compared to its predecessors, it has a new anti-skate assembly, a more rigid vertical bearing housing , an integrated arm clamp and a spring with a more readable scale.

The horizontal and vertical bearings are precision, hand-selected, with even lower friction and zero play . Why does it matter? Toward the center of an LP, a 10kHz signal is just 26 microns long and less than 10 microns high: if the tonearm has any play in the bearings, that detail is lost. The low-mass aluminum tube redistributes weight to reduce resonance points.

The phono cable is a Rega-built, low capacitance cable with Neutrik plugs; the mild steel counterweight is 100g. The mounting measurements are standard Rega: low effective mass (11g), effective length 236,5mm and mounting spacing 222mm, with three-point fixing . It is supplied with a mounting template.

About the brand

Rega is a British manufacturer specializing in turntables and integrated amplifiers, designed for those who want a clean, musical sound without complications. The Planar range (1 to 6) covers every budget, from entry-level systems to high-end references, while the Elex MK4 and IO offer versatile amplification for analog and digital sources. Those who choose Rega are looking for simple construction, long-lasting reliability, and a direct, no-frills sound.

To choose the right model, first consider your budget and source type: Planar turntables are excellent for those starting with vinyl, while the Apollo CD completes an already established system. Then consider the available space and the matching amplifier: Rega designs its components to work well together. Audiocostruzioni In Carpi, you can view the models in the showroom, receive advice on matching them, and choose between new, guaranteed used, and ex-demo models, with the option of a trade-in.

Sumiko Amethyst or Ortofon 2M Black: Which Cartridge Should You Choose?

They are two moving magnet cartridges in the same price range, both with a thin-profile stylus, both designed for those who want the most from an MM without switching to MCs. But the Sumiko Amethyst and Ortofon 2M Black ask your system…

The difference that matters most of all: tension

Before any discussion about sound, a number: the 2M Black outputs 5 mV, the Amethyst 2,5 mV. Exactly half.
