Rega RB880

Description

The RB880 is the tonearm for the Planar 8 and Planar 6 RS Edition. Designed using 3D CAD/CAM, it has an aluminum vertical housing and a stainless steel vertical bearing sleeve and shaft , choices that increase mounting stability and overall rigidity.

The tube is Rega's latest design, featuring multiple CAD-designed tapers to redistribute mass, reduce stress and resonance, and increase rigidity. The high-precision bearings are hand-matched for near-frictionless movement and zero measurable play.

On the outside is a low capacitance Rega phono cable with two-piece plugs and twist-locking, reducing splices in the signal path. An improved scale tonearm clamp and spring are also integrated. Mounting dimensions are standard Rega: low effective mass (11g), effective length of 236,5mm and mounting spacing of 222mm, with three-point fixing . Supplied with a mounting template.

About the brand

Rega is a British manufacturer specializing in turntables and integrated amplifiers, designed for those who want a clean, musical sound without complications. The Planar range (1 to 6) covers every budget, from entry-level systems to high-end references, while the Elex MK4 and IO offer versatile amplification for analog and digital sources. Those who choose Rega are looking for simple construction, long-lasting reliability, and a direct, no-frills sound.

To choose the right model, first consider your budget and source type: Planar turntables are excellent for those starting with vinyl, while the Apollo CD completes an already established system. Then consider the available space and the matching amplifier: Rega designs its components to work well together. Audiocostruzioni In Carpi, you can view the models in the showroom, receive advice on matching them, and choose between new, guaranteed used, and ex-demo models, with the option of a trade-in.

The Most Common Hi-Fi Beginner Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them)

Entering the world of Hi-Fi is a bit like learning to taste wine: at first, everything seems complicated, but then you discover that with just a few tricks, you can enjoy the experience without wasting time and money. Over the years, we've seen hundreds of enthusiasts at their first…

Mistake 1: Unbalancing your budget between electronics and speakers

It's the most classic mistake: spending three thousand euros on an integrated amplifier and then pairing it with three-hundred-euro speakers. Or vice versa, buying massive towers and powering them with an entry-level amplifier that can't handle them. The result is always the same: a bottleneck that limits the entire chain.
